Has Sega finally gotten 3D Sonic right again?

Coming straight off of my previous story about the next next-gen installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, Sonic Unleashed, is actual footage of the gameplay. Looks like Sonic is still going to be 3D, but played from a 2D perspective, occasionally switching to a 3D view to make it look more cinematic, while still remaining on rails. Think Sonic Rush for the DS and you'll get the picture, or you could just watch the footage below. I think I'm actually a little excited for this one. Sega is one to crush hopes and dreams though. We'll see later this year.

Now this is very exciting! Could Sega revive Sonic from his rough pattern of mediocre title after mediocre title? The odds are not in Sega's favor, but this game sure looks appetizing. I refuse to get my hopes up, but this title looks like it has the speed that we all crave. One of Sega's greatest mistakes was shifting the focus from Sonic onto the slowpoke critters and less interesting Sonic clones. If they are going to add other playable characters, at least make them fast like they did in the old days (Knuckles and Tails used to be able to match Sonic in speed back on the Genesis).
